New Ameol users should check their account type before running the Ameol setup
routine to see if they have a Parkglobe CIXdesktop or a Pipex ICA/CIXIP/OUT
account. Make sure you select the correct account type during setup.
You can check your account type by logging into
CIX Online with your CIX nickname and conferencing password, Go to My
Account | Account Details. This will show you if your account is a Parkglobe
CIXdesktop account or a Pipex ICA/CIXIP/OUT account.
You can also email us at accounts@cixonline.com
with your CIX nickname and we will let you know what type of account you have.
After installation please read the Help | What's New? notes.

Installing Ameol over an existing version will retain your data and settings
however as always we recommend that you backup your Ameol data prior to
upgrading. Details on how to backup your Ameol data can be found at
cix:cix.support/ameol.faq:55 or
here
Check your Ameol version number from Help | About Ameol2. If you are upgrading
from Ameol 2.55 you can simply run the installation routine by opening the
a2562061.exe file and installing over your existing version.
If you are upgrading from a version prior to 2.54 you will need to update your
usenet newsgroup lists after installation. You can do this from News | Show All
Newsgroups and press Update.
If you are upgrading from a version of Ameol2 earlier than 2.53 then you must
remove all email items from your outbasket before you upgrade.
You can do this by either posting the emails or deleting them from your
outbasket. This includes all new mail, reply to mail and forward mail items.
Microsoft Vista users.
Ameol will run on Vista however you need to ensure that Ameol is
running with Admin access. Either display the properties for Ameol2 and on the
Compatibility tab tick the 'Run this program as an administrator' option or
give 'users' full access to the Ameol programme directories via the security
tab.
Known issues: The Ameol help system will not function with
Vista as installed. To get around this Vista users can download WinHelp32 from
Microsoft as this is not included as standard.
